St Andrews panoramic tour
Guided tour of the region of Fife, around St Andrews. Considered by many as Scotland’s larder, Fife offers picturesque country landscapes as well as fantastic coastlines. There is a large number of local farms and independent food producers based here, a mere hour away from Edinburgh.
On board of an all-electric saloon, a Tesla Model S, join your personal guide for a culinary discovery of the region of Fife. You will be picked-up in style from your accommodation in Edinburgh, and drive across the Firth of Forth for a day of shared encounters with the locals, and of course, delicious food tastings.
After leaving Edinburgh, we will first stop in North Queensferry and take in the magnificent view on a marvel of Scottish engineering: the Forth Bridge. Build in 1890, it established a vital railway link to the region of Fife, and is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage monument. We’ll move on to a farm, near St Andrews, where we will taste exquisite local meats, cooked on a wood fire stove.
We’ll carry on to St Andrews and discover its historic monuments, such as its ruined cathedral, its castle and the University of St Andrews colleges. We’ll stop along the West Sands, featured in the opening sequence of 1981 film “Chariots of Fire”, before discovering the Old Course and its bridge for a picturesque photo opportunity.
As we drive south, away from St Andrews, we will visit Kingsbarns Distillery, where the Master Distiller will tell us all about the complex alchemy and maturation process of Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Of course, the visit will finish by a whisky tasting.
We’ll carry on to a cheese making farm, where a local cheese platter will await you. Taste the diverse and delicious cheeses of Fife, before heading to the coast only a few minutes away. In a small fishing village, see an artisan fish smokery and end your food tour with an exquisite freshly caught lobster, one of the treasures of Fife!
